I No Longer Associate Myself with Church People

The title of this blog shouldn’t frighten you, but inspire you to take a look at yourself and make the adjustment.

I don’t want to ever be associated with church people again. This statement is not to be confused or tied into my relationship with God and my spiritual walk with JESUS (Cardi B’s voice). However, I have realized that “church people” have pushed more people away from the church than they’ve brought to the church. (Because I used to be a church person, throughout this reading I will be using the pronoun “We” because I choose not to be judgemental towards the most judgemental.) We enter into these meaningless Facebook and Twitter debates about “God” and we insert more of our feelings or our learned religion than we do scripture. We put numbers on sin and say it’s ok to commit adultery as long as it’s with the opposite sex. We lie on our tax returns and food stamp applications but still believe that “God is in the blessing business” while we take away from other people. We turn our noses up at Kanye, Cardi, and TIP, but keep family secrets of rape, molestation, and lies for decades. We don’t tip our waitresses, but quote “it’s better to give than receive”. We preach the fruits of the spirit but get pissed off if we wait too long in the drive-thru. We frown upon “playing the lottery” but take them “church clothes” back after we wore em. We claim people are welcome to God’s house but put rules and regulations on what they can do there. We are so good at pointing the finger but so bad at accepting accountability. I wanna make Jesus famous, and we can’t do it this way. We must learn to meet people where they are. And as they see us being a light, they in turn want to become a light. Sometimes it’s all in the listening and not in the talking. Sometimes it’s about inviting people to dinner before you invite them to church. Sometimes it’s giving people money before you ask them to give it. It’s all in the approach.

I don’t want to be associated with those people anymore who ONLY call themselves Christians. But I want my walk to demonstrate the agape love of Jesus Christ. When you see me, you see Jesus… Period Pooh

*Disclaimer: I am a tithe paying, power walking, love giving, song singing, worshipping, a follower of Jesus Christ. 🗣IT’S NOT AND NEVER WILL BE DEBATABLE. And if God saved you, he can save Kanye too.

Girl yesss !!! Amen and Amen! One of my worst conversations is when someone tells me they don’t go to church because of those “church people” and I try so so hard not to be one but to meet people where they are like you said! Showing them how amazing God has been to me and truly being a testimony so when they think about it they can’t help but to want to praise Him the same way I do!! Great word !!
